For those residing in a flat or more compact living space, the challenge of festive decorating can be real.

You might feel disheartened at the thought of not being able to fit a grand fir tree into your home, perhaps considering settling for a modest one or even thinking it's futile to do anything beyond hanging a wreath on your door this year.

However, one creative individual demonstrated you can still bring the festive spirit into your home, regardless of size constraints, using an unexpected item. And, if your abode lacks a staircase, fear not as this clever decoration trick can be adapted to whatever space you have available.

Samantha, known on TikTok as @sammyjessxx, wowed her followers with a video showcasing how she "decorates her staircase for Christmas" and the outcome is nothing short of spectacular.

In the realm of Christmas decorations, Samantha revealed she often receives queries about her method, prompting her to create an "in-depth tutorial" to ensure everyone can replicate her stunning decor.

She instructs viewers: "First, we wanna grab this pipe insulation," mentioning it's available from Screwfix. She also advises "cable ties" are necessary for securing the pipe insulation to the bannister.

Once fixed in place, the next step is to trim any excess cable tie before moving on to the fun part: "Go in with some tinsel," she says, encouraging personal flair: "You can decorate it exactly how you want."

Samantha shared her festive decorating tips, revealing she opts for a "silver theme" and loves to "go very extra with it". She picks up a "cheap snow blanket from The Range" and explains she hot glue guns everything onto the pipe insulation so there's no worry about decorations falling off during the holiday season.

She aimed to "cover it all up" then adorned it with baubles and "little bows", emphasising the importance of using the glue gun to secure everything in place.

Samantha adds: "And that way, it's not sticking to your staircase, and it's not going to ruin anything", which is particularly beneficial for renters who want to avoid damaging their property and facing issues with their landlord.

After the festivities, Samantha advises you can simply "cut the cable ties from underneath and it's all done to put away for next year", making the process hassle-free when the time comes to decorate again.

In the comments, one creative suggestion was to use a "swimming woggle" cut in half as an alternative method. While someone else proposed the convenience of a "a pre-lit garland", Samantha insisted on a "fully customised" approach.

Another comment suggested: "Instead of zip ties try velcro stripe so you can easily remove and use again and again", to which Samantha responded enthusiastically: "Omg such a good idea."
