Woman shares organizing hack as someone who constantly switches purses: ’10 out of 10′

One content creator is sharing an organizing hack she learned as a girlie who frequently swaps out her purses.

On Nov. 5, TikTok user @letsgaslightmen took to the digital platform to share a tip that she picked up from another girl on the app when it comes to effectively storing and consolidating all of your purse essentials.

“Basically, if every time you leave the house you always gotta look for your lippy or your wallet or whatever it is … because you use different purses and you rotate constantly,” she says. “Instead of leaving everything in her purses, she dumps it into this bin that’s kind of just a collective of everything that you put in your purse.”

The idea here, @letsgaslightmen explains, is to place the bin wherever your final steps of getting ready take place; @letsgaslightmen’s bin, for instance, is in her closet next to her shoes and purses.

“I just put it [in] that part of my closet so that I can see it before I leave and I don’t have to keep looking everywhere, and it’s just in one sole place,” she adds. “So, 10 out of 10.”

Other TikTok creators have since taken to the comments of @letsgaslightmen’s video and are thanking her for “not gatekeeping” this hack.

“Thank you for not gatekeeping because this is such a good idea,” @thecajunbelle replied.

“Oh this is so smart, I’ve been just dumping everything on the couch and scrambling for my stuff in the cushions,” @ariana.js added.

According to TikTok user @goddessoffayries, this is actually recognized as the Marie Kondo method.

“Yes, this is the Marie Kondo method. I’ve been doing this for years. I’m very forgetful so it’s great lol,” she wrote.

Marie Kondo, the Japanese organizing consultant and creator of the “KonMari” decluttering method who gained popularity in the United States thanks to the success of her 2019 Netflix series, “Tidying Up With Marie Kondo,” spoke of this exact hack during a 2017 interview with Good Housekeeping.

“I recommend completely emptying your bag each day when you come home. This is especially true if you switch handbags regularly,” she said. “Designate a place in your home to store the items from your handbag that you carry each day, such as your wallet. Then each morning, pack only the items you need on that particular day — this way your handbag will always remain tidy.”
