Anyone who's ever eaten a Gregg's sausage roll will know they're special. Not quite as special as the steak and cheese roll IMO, but I understand there'll be some people who disagree.

Anyway. The point is (sadly), baked, buttery pastry filled with delicious meaty goodness (and veggie, too - can't forget the cheese and onion bake) isn't exactly a sustainable daily diet. But Greggs is on a mission this summer to reassure people that their array of food options can actually be healthy, so they recruited several volunteers to try eating nothing but Greggs for a month to prove it.

29-year-old Hannah Barth, a new mum from Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, was one of the lucky ones who got to give this dream scenario a go, and after eating Greggs, Greggs, and more Greggs for 30 days straight she managed to lose more than a stone.

See? Miracles can happen.

With the new arrival of a salad range, plus more breakfast options, loads of sandwiches and the odd baked good thrown in, Greggs enlisted the help of nutritionist Laura Clark to devise a 30-day eating plan built entirely from its menu, aiming to encourage healthier food choices alongside a more active lifestyle.

An example Greggs weekly menu can be seen below, and is that a sausage roll I spy? This has got to be the only 'diet' which actively encourages the consumption of a sausage roll, so I'm 100% on board.

Prior to starting the month-long experiment, Hannah described her diet and lifestyle as "lazy". Basically, she'd go for "anything that's quick, easy, and doesn't require a lot of preparing". It's an easy trap to fall into, and many of us do, but it often means our health can suffer.

As her maternity leave neared to a close, the new mum was keen to shift some of the baby weight she'd acquired during her pregnancy, and who'd have thought Greggs could be the answer? But it turns out, it was.

Pairing her new food plan with some easy exercise, including short bursts of 15 minute high intensity work outs at home, along with ensuring she walked 10,000 steps a day, Hannah managed to lose 1 stone 3 pounds, also shedding 8.4cm from her waist. Plus, she saved a bomb on takeaways, which isn't exactly a bad thing.

And she didn't get bored of the food, either, with so many options available.

So if you were planning a few weeks of the 5:2, or were thinking about doing a juice cleanse before your holiday, sack them off and just head down to Greggs. Ideal.
