Woman discovers 23andMe secret and spills family tea on TikTok: ‘The family picture told the whole story’
Every family has a unique story. No one knows this better than TikToker Alexa Hansen (@prod.ofabeautifultragedy), who recently shared an eight-part video where she breaks down the big secret in her family, shocking viewers across the internet.
Grab these 5 smooth and stretchy SKIMS must-haves before they sell out.
The first clip opens with a front-facing shot of Hansen addressing the camera.
“So this is my family,” Hansen says, showing viewers an old family photo superimposed onto the screen. “I’m the super cute girl in all white with the super, super sweet haircut,” the second-oldest child of six says.
Hansen explains that since her parents were “super hippies,” they were never legally married. So her mom didn’t list a father on the birth certificates for her first three children in case they separated. However, her following three siblings had their father listed, since her mother believed they’d been together long enough.

The couple stayed together until they both sadly passed away after battling cancer when Hansen was 20 years old, making her the primary caregiver for her siblings.
Having always been interested in family history and genealogy, Hansen, along with her siblings, submitted their DNA to 23andMe, a direct-to-consumer genetic testing company.
The shock of her life
Little did Hansen know that she was about to get the shock of her life. Upon receiving the test results, the family discovered that Hansen has a different biological father than the rest of her five siblings.
Because Hansen bears little resemblance to her siblings, it was a running joke in her family that the “milkman” might be her biological father. One day, Hansen’s mother overheard her joking about this with her siblings and mentioned that her birth father might be a mysterious “karate guy.”
It just so happens that her mother had dated a karate teacher and would mention him frequently around her kids. After Hansen asked a few of her mother’s friends for this person’s name, one responded that it might be someone named Tony.
Upon learning this information, Hansen took to her computer and used her “detective skills” to track down this person. When she discovered a LinkedIn profile belonging to a karate teacher from her town, Hansen saw his picture and noticed a resemblance.
After corresponding and one paternity test later, Hansen discovered that the “karate guy” was indeed her biological father.
That family picture …
Hansen’s story had viewers on the edge of their seats.
“As soon as you showed the family picture, I could tell you were not like the others,” one user commented.
“Let’s take a minute and honor you for raising your siblings,” complimented one TikToker.
“The family picture told the WHOLE story,” another viewer mentioned.
Since her biological father is the “karate guy,” that officially makes her a “karate kid!”
