A WOMAN behind ‘serious’ attacks on three police officers has walked free from court.

The 39-year-old was charged with three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, and she appeared to be sentenced at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 15.

But the defendant was spared an immediate prison sentence due to her ‘prospect of rehabilitation’.

Laura Simpson, prosecuting, informed the court how the offences were committed on January 28.

Plumpton assaulted three police officers, two male and one female, acting in the exercise of their functions.

Before sentencing, magistrates remarked that the offences were ‘so serious’ that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

However, taking her guilty pleas into account, they said that the custodial sentence could be suspended because of the defendant’s ‘real prospect for rehabilitation’.

Plumpton, of Buttermarket Street in the town centre, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.

She must also carry out 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and abide by an alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement for 120 days.

In addition, the court ordered that she pay compensation of £150 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £154.
