Woman’s Airbnb is uncomfortably close to a restaurant: ‘How is this legal?’

A woman’s hilarious Airbnb nightmare is going viral on TikTok

No shade, but it's time to stop mooching off your parents' Amazon Prime — here's why

Desiree Baker encountered a bit of a bait and switch when she was vacationing in New York City. She booked an Airbnb that boasted a view of the city. However, when she arrived, Baker noticed that the actual room was not as advertised.

Look your best this holiday season with top fashion items from Walmart:

“I’m in New York City right now, in my Airbnb,” Baker explained

She showed what photographs of the room looked like in its online listing. The space resembled a hotel with two large beds, white bedding, a flat-screen television and a window with a view of the city. But the view was clearly an edited image. What it really looked like when Baker got there was not just disappointing but unthinkable.

“We’re in a restaurant,” Baker said. “Let me show you.”

First, she turned off her room lights because she was “scared” people would see her. Then Baker lifted the shade of her window. There were two people having dinner directly in front of her. The bedroom was smack dab right next to a lively restaurant. The incident was truly a mind-boggling New York moment.

“How is this legal? You literally cannot make this up. I can open the window and touch their table,” she said in the caption.

It turns out the restaurant was Tempura in Times Square and she was staying at the nearby hotel Cassa. Baker didn’t get a refund but Airbnb sent her credit for a future booking.

The video received over 7.6 million views on TikTok

“I screamed. When you said ‘in a restaurant’ I did not anticipate people right there,” a user said

“Airdrop them a photo of themselves,” another joked

“Open the window and ask them to pass the salt and pepper,” someone commented
