Wolverhampton Wanderers target Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has passed his medical ahead of completing a very late Deadline Day transfer, according to a reputable update in France.

It was reported widely earlier on Friday that the 25-year-old had accepted personal terms and Wolves then reached an agreement in principle with Strasbourg to complete the deal.

All that awaited after that was the medical tests and paperwork completion, with Wanderers officials booked in to fly to France during the late afternoon.

French journalist Nabil Djellit reports Bellegarde has made it through the medical and will join Gary O’Neil’s side on a permanent transfer. It’s said to be a £12.8 million package.

Bellegarde, entering his prime, has scored two goals and contributed two assists in three impressive Ligue 1 matches this season, playing from a central midfield role.

The former France U21 international has already matched his scoring tally of last campaign but is seven away from his previous total of nine assists. He’s set to become Wolves’ sixth summer coup.
