Full details of the prize
You’ll be met in Cape Town and privately transferred to your first destination, Babylonstoren, a restored Cape Dutch farm dating back to 1692, where you’ll spend two nights surrounded by picturesque mountains and unwinding amongst its magnificent eight-acre garden and sweeping vineyards. Staying in a charming cottage, you’ll have your pick of complimentary farm activities – including a guided garden tour, farm walk, bread baking and a wine cellar tour with a guided tasting – plus meals at the estate’s contemporary restaurants, where menus are designed to showcase fresh, seasonal produce sourced from the local area.
Next, you’ll be privately transferred to the iconic Belmond Mount Nelson hotel for two nights. Sitting beneath the gaze of Table Mountain, this oasis of calm is a leisurely walk from buzzing Cape Town’s vibrant centre, meaning you’ll be able to stroll to many of its main attractions and sandy beaches with ease.
From here, following a private transfer to Cape Town International Airport, it is just a short flight to Nelspruit Kruger Mpumalanga (KMIA) International Airport, then onwards – via shared charter flight – to the Singita Airstrip, in the Sabi Sand reserve. Here, you’ll spend three nights at Singita Ebony Lodge, where the brand’s 100-year purpose is to protect and preserve large parts of African wilderness for future generations. As a result, the last 30 years has seen the lodge – which was Singita’s first – dedicated to environmentally conscious hospitality and sustainable conservation, as well as the empowerment of local communities, alongside its conservation partners.
Located in Singita Sabi Sand and nestled among giant trees beside the Sand River, a stay at the lodge provides a wonderful opportunity to be immersed in nature, with each of the 12 glass-and-canvas suites opening onto an expansive private deck complete with plunge pool and uninterrupted river views. The lodge’s guests have exclusive access to 45,000 acres of a pristine wildlife sanctuary – renowned for its high concentrations of big game and frequent leopard sightings – and you’ll have access to twice-daily open game drives, an art gallery showcasing African art, a wine cellar and guided nature walks.
From here, it’s on to the last leg of your trip, back to the Singita Airstrip for a shared charter flight to KMI Airport, followed by a scheduled regional flight to Victoria Falls Airport, Zimbabwe. Here awaits the family-run Matetsi Victoria Falls, a lodge peacefully tucked away on the banks of a private nine-mile stretch of the Zambezi River, and boasting exclusive traversing rights to the 55,000 hectare Matetsi Private Game Reserve.
Located close to Victoria Falls – a Unesco World Heritage site – and considered one of Zimbabwe’s most luxurious lodge options, Matetsi is known for its excellent hospitality and expert team (which includes a personal butler for each guest), as well as the knowledgeable conservation-minded guides who’ll accompany you on daily game drives, boat cruises, canoeing, walking safaris and, of course, a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls.
