Britain has been in mourning since Queen Elizabeth passed away on 8 September, 2022 at the age of 96. Tributes have poured in for the monarch from world leaders and some of the biggest celebrities. However, not every star is a supporter of the British Royal Family. Read on to find out which celebs hit out at the royals...

Eddie Izzard may have played the part of Queen Victoria's eldest son, Bertie, Prince of Wales in Stephen Frears' 'Victoria and Abdul' but he's a republican and doesn't support an hereditary monarchy. Speaking to the Metro, he said: "It doesn't make sense in the 21st century." In another interview with The Independent, he said: "Hereditary privilege is crazy to me. "We should widen the gene pool, and elect a head of state for five years."

Former US President Donald Trump is not a fan of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex because of the way she has disrespected the British Royal Family since she and her husband Prince Harry made the decision to step back from being working royals. Speaking to Nigel Farage, he said: "I think she’s very disrespectful to the royal family. "I’m not a fan of hers. I wasn’t from day one. I think Harry has been used horribly, and I think someday he will regret it. "I think Harry’s been used and been used terribly. I think it’s ruined his relationship with his family."

The ‘Harry Potter’ star is very proud of his British roots but does not see the point in the monarchy. He said: "I am definitely a republican in the British sense of the word. I just don't see the use of the monarchy, though I'm a fierce patriot. I'm proud proud proud of being English, but I think the monarchy symbolizes a lot of what was wrong with the country."

The comedian-turned-YouTube influencer is not a supporter of the monarchy and can't understand why his fellow Brits have so much respect to the crown. Speaking years before Queen Elizabeth passed, he said: "I mean in England we have a Queen. We have to call her things like 'Your Majesty' like she's all majestic. She's just a person. "She's high up, above us, at the top of a class pyramid on a shelf of money with her own face on it. "We should be calling her Mrs. Windsor. "In fact that's not even her real name, they changed it in the war to distract us from the inconvenient fact that they were as German as the enemy ... Her actual name is Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. It's the most German thing I've ever heard."

The former Smiths singer - who is a committed vegan and animal rights campaigner - shared his disgust at Prince William and Prince Harry’s extra curriculum activities after they went hunting in Africa. Morrissey ranted: "William is too thick to realize that animals such as tigers and rhino are only driven to near extinction because people who are precisely like himself and his brother have shot them off the map — all in the name of sport and slaughter. "We can only pray to God that their hunting guns backfire in their faces."

Morrissey and Johnny Marr may have had many fallouts during their time in The Smiths and their careers post-split but they do agree on one thing, their distaste for the Royal Family and the honors system. When asked whether he’d be happy to receive a knighthood, he said: "Order of the British Empire… "F*** no!"

There is one thing that Noel finds more irritating than his brother Liam and that's the Royal Family. Speaking about how the appeal of the monarchy had faded in the years between Queen Elizabeth's 1977 Silver Jubilee and her Platinum Jubilee in 2022. He said: "Now, its appeal is dwindling, like religion. There are other things for people to be interested in. "The monarchy as a thing is a bit farcical – and if anybody thinks we are one’s subjects then they are very much mistaken.”

British TV star and singer Stacey Solomon doesn't understand why the country puts the Royal Family on a pedestal just because they were born into privilege. He said: "I don’t get why we’re so obsessed with these humans that are exactly the same, I just don’t get it."

The American TV personality had zero sympathy for Meghan Markle when she and her husband Prince Harry were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey about their decision to quit the Royal Family and move to LA. She fumed: "Meghan Markle, nobody feels sorry for you “You knew what you were signing up for, girl. “You knew exactly what you were doing. And I applaud her ‘plottation’ of the royal situation. But please, don't try to garner sympathy from us. You knew what you were doing.”

Tracey Ullman may not have lived in the UK much since becoming a huge hit Stateside, but that hasn't stopped her from voicing her criticism of the Royal Family. In an interview with The New York Times she was asked if she was a republican, to which she replied: "I am, I am. "An MP once suggested I be put in the Tower of London for saying derogatory things about the royals. There's no First Amendment in my country. I love your Bill of Rights."
