William and Kate are on holiday with the Queen in Balmoral
The Queen has been enjoying her annual summer getaway to Balmoral in recent weeks and this weekend, she welcomed a few royal visitors to her Scottish residence.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were pictured accompanying the monarch to Crathie Kirk, the parish church, on Sunday. Kate, who hasn't been seen publicly since her appearance at Wimbledon, wore a black and white coat by London-based designer Catherine Walker paired with a black fascinator and drop diamond earrings for the occasion. The Queen wore a bright blue coat and a matching hat adorned with orange feathers.
Prince Charles was also seen arriving for church in a separate car, along with Princess Anne, who travelled with her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Autumn Phillips. The royal get-together also included Prince Edward, the Countess of Wessex and their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and four-month-old Prince Louis are believed to be with their parents for the family gathering, but they did not attend the church service.
Typical activities on the Aberdeenshire estate are said to include walking, horse riding, fishing, hunting, picnics and BBQs, and the younger members of the family haven't been missing out. Royal correspondent Emily Andrews, five-year-old George was taken on his first grouse hunt over the weekend, which was followed by lunch in the countryside with the monarch plus other royals including Zara and Mike Tindall.
Two family members who were notably absent from Sunday's outing were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. However, The Sunday Timesnotes that the couple were among the guests at Balmoral and that they have already holidayed in Scotland this summer. They are understood to have joined Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at the Castle of Mey on the north coast of Scotland.
