Unbelievably, it's a full decade since Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, meaning the royal couple are celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary tomorrow. To mark the occasion, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released some uncharacteristically romantic portraits - and they are so lovely.

Shared this evening on their @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account, William and Kate can be seen in matching blue hues in the portraits, taken by photographer Chris Floyd. The couple - who have had three children in their ten years of marriage, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - are seen smiling and laughing as they hold hands in the first photo. In the second, Kate Middleton cuddles up to her husband in the grounds of Kensington Palace, in a rare public display of affection for the pair.

Typically, William and Kate have shied away from outward affection towards one another, perhaps because they're very senior royals and are therefore keen to maintain an air of professionalism. But on the occasion of their tenth wedding anniversary, it seems they were keen to break down the barriers a little by showing a slightly more intimate side to their relationship. And we are very much here for it, because these pictures are warming our hearts.

It makes a change for Kate to be in front of the camera, considering she usually likes to be the one taking the photographs. In a post on his Instagram account, the photographer who took the Cambridges' anniversary photos referenced the Duchess' love of photography, which no doubt added to how daunting this particular job must have been.

"The day I visited Cambridge for the first time in my life was also the day I was approached to photograph The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their tenth wedding anniversary," wrote Chris Floyd. "It was a thrill to spend some time with them at Kensington Palace, especially as The Duchess is a rather keen photographer. Happy anniversary!"

Prince William married Kate Middleton on 29 April, 2011, in a grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey that was watched by 17.6 million people in the UK and 2 billion worldwide. No big deal, then.

The nation celebrated with an extra day off, which meant street parties, sandwiches and bunting galore. I'm not going to lie, I'm feeling kind of nostalgic for it. Shame there's no extra bank holiday for the ten-year anniversary...
