How William and Harry are using their tragic childhoods to protect their own children

This video airs during episode three of Yahoo UK’s brand new show ‘The Royal Box’. Watch the full episode here.

Princes William and Harry’s tragic childhoods are well known: The brothers were just 15 (William) and 12 (Harry) when their mother was killed in a car crash in Paris.

People globally watched as they walked behind Princess Diana’s coffin at her funeral – and continued to watch them as they muddied their way through their grief and teenage years.

The exposure weighed heavily on them and affected them both mentally, Prince Harry revealed at a later date.

But the heirs refuse to let the pressure of palace life affect the next generation of royals. In addition to protecting his children from the paparazzi, Prince William is determined to focus on the mental wellbeing of his children.

Prince Harry will certainly do the same if – or perhaps when – he has children with new wife Meghan Markle.

The 33-year-old, who’s expressed his desire to start a family on a number of occasions, sought counselling after 20 years of not processing his mother’s death.
