After months of anticipation, The Crown season 5 dropped on Netflix, giving us an insight into the life and times of the Royal family throughout the 1990s. And while some fans are focussed on deciphering fact from fiction with the new series, others are more focussed on the new cast, questioning whether Dominic West was a good call to play the then Prince, Charles.

As you may well know, The Crown casts new actors to play the key roles of the Royal family every two seasons, in order to maintain accuracy in the ages of the characters they're playing. For season five, a whole new group of faces took over, with Imelda Staunton becoming Queen Elizabeth II, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, and Dominic as Charles.

The season follows much of Charles and Diana's relationship breakdown, including their failed second honeymoon, as well as his blossoming romance with Camilla Parker Bowles.

And while many fans are lapping up the drama and impressive cinematography, others can't help but comment on how, well, unalike actor Dominic West and Prince Charles appear to be.

"How did the idea of hiring Dominic West as Prince Charles come about in the director's mind? I mean... wtf" one person wrote, while another put, "Dominic West is too handsome to play Prince Charles to be honest."

Someone else summed it up, "Dominic West is too hot to be Prince Charles."

Interestingly, even West, 53, initially agreed. Recalling the part being offered to him to EW, he told them, "I said, 'You've got the wrong guy, I don't look anything like him.' I was slightly in despair, you know, how was I going to get the physicality of this guy. Because the only time I really look like Charles, is from behind, because the hair is just perfect."

The Crown is now streaming on Netflix.
