Tom Holland and Zendaya are literally everybody's favourite celebrity couple at the moment, but their romance almost didn't happen. A producer for the Spider-Man movie franchise has spoken out in an interview about warning colleagues on set from getting involved – romantically. She explained how she even urged Tom and Zendaya from getting into a relationship.

On Friday The New York Times published an interview with the team behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, where one of the producers opened up about warning the two stars not to get involved in anything romantic – instead urging them to keep their relationship platonic.

Tom and Zendaya, both 25, were reportedly told to steer clear of romance by Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal when they were first cast in the movie. "I took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture," Amy Pascal said. She explained how she said, "Don’t go there — just don’t. Try not to."

She explained how she gave same advice to Andrew [Garfield] and Emma [Stone] when they starred in the 2012 Spider-Man movie. Pascal said, "It can just complicate things, you know? And they all ignored me."

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone met on set when they starred in The Amazing Spider-Man movie back in 2012. The pair ended up dating each other for a while, but they allegedly broke up in 2015.

Tom Holland and Zendaya were rumoured to be romantically involved years before they actually made it official. The first rumours spiralled ahead of Spider-Man's release on 5 July 2017, when they were on a press trip together. A source has told People, "They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man. They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye, but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”

It wasn't until July this year (2021) that the couple made everything official when they were spotted kissing in a car. But since this, they have shared many sweet moments together, including a super cute moment during the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Just last week Tom halted an interview he was giving so that he could watch his girlfriend and fellow co-star walk the red carpet.

We're SO happy they didn't take producer Amy's advice.
