How hard can it be to eat a burger, right? Saying that, they can be messy, and if you’re at a posh establishment, you may feel inclined to get a knife and fork involved. Not to mention trying to eat around those skewers they put in massive burgers can be a total nightmare.
But now there’s a new way of eating burgers that is about to turn everything you though you knew on its head. Literally.
According to Burger Lad, we should all be eating burgers upside down. Apparently, the bottom of a burger bun is far less stable than the top, so spinning it upside down limits the chance of the bit you're holding falling apart.
“Burgers are served the way they are purely for aesthetics,” Simon Dukes, founder of the blog Burger Lad, explained to Insider.
“The crown (the top of the bun) is generally thicker (and therefore stronger) than the heel, so for a better eating experience, you should actually flip it upside-down to eat it.
Sim added, “The crown will then hold the weight of everything else, and there is less likelihood of it falling apart in your hands. A true burger connoisseur should always eat their burgers upside down.”
And it’s not just Burger Lad that thinks this is the way to do it – TGI Fridays is well onboard with us eating them upside.
TGI Friday’s new campaign, #FlipItChallenge is asking burger fans to share images or video of themselves testing out its new range of burgers by eating them upside down.
