Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are Reportedly Canceling the Lease on Their Country Getaway Cottage
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have already shared their plans to move out of their Notingham Cottage property on the Kensington Palace grounds in favor of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor-but the two are apparently selling their weekend property as well.
At some point during their engagement (multiple dates have been reported), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a million dollar lease on a rental property in Cotswolds where the two would escape from what friends call the royal "goldfish bowl" that is Kensington Palace on the weekends. But the Daily Mail is reporting that Meghan Harry have decided to terminate the lease on their cozy, country getaway.
One of the outlet's sources say that the Duke and Duchess want to rid themselves of the added expense of two homes in order to cushion the blow from the million dollar renovation the couple is reportedly initiating at Frogmore Cottage. Meanwhile, another source insists that ending the lease-which the couple reportedly plans to do in March-is simply a matter of privacy and preparation for their baby.
While on an official engagement earlier this month, the couple recently revealed to royal fans that Meghan is due in April, and that they're keeping the future royal's gender a surprise.
Meghan also told wellwishers today she and #PrinceHarry don’t know the sex of the baby. They want it to be a ‘surprise’ #MeghanMarkle #DuchessMeghan #DuchessofSussex
