Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed defender Levi Colwill has been left out of the squad due to a shoulder injury.
The Blues defender was the only name missing from the team that beat Tottenham 4-1 in north London but when the team sheets came out the defender's name was not in the starting eleven or on the bench.
Asked before the game why he was not involved, Pochettino confirmed it was due to an injury he picked up ahead of the game.
He told Sky: "Levi Colwill had slight discomfort in his shoulder after a challenge in training and is out as a precaution."
Chelsea have only won one league game in their last 13 games at Stamford Bridge and Pochettino will be determined to change that against a team that many think are favourite for the title again this season.
Manchester City are without John Stones due to the injury which forced him off against Young Boys on Tuesday but Chelsea have lost their last four games against them, they have never lost five on the spin against an opposition in Premier League history.
Pep Guardiola has lost eight matches against Chelsea, the joint most of his managerial career alongside Liverpool so there is some hope for Chelsea in what should be an interesting game at Stamford bridge.
