This is why Jennifer Lawrence has only just joined social media

In 2014 Jennifer Lawrence gave an interview saying that she would never join social media, but in the last few days she seems to have changed her mind, creating an account for a very important cause.

In the interview with BBC Radio 1 back in 2014, Lawrence discussed the decision with show host Nick Grimshaw, saying, "I will never get Twitter. I'm not very good on the phone or technology. I cannot really keep up with emails so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me ... If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that says it's me, it most certainly is not," she explained.

Grimshaw then responded to Lawrence, who is famous for giving witty responses in interviews, "We finally have a serious answer from this entire interview."

To which Lawrence replied, "I had that one locked and loaded ... Because the Internet has scorned me so much. And I feel like I'm that girl in high school like, 'You wanna talk about her?' I'll take my hoops off, I'm ready to go," she said, laughing.

But in the last few days, Lawrence has gone back on that vow, setting up a Twitter account to support the organisation Represent Us, and in order to speak out about racial injustice.

Breaking the social media ban to fight racial injustice is an extremely good cause we can all get behind. Well done J Law.
