This Morning chef James Martin has decided to take a break from social media after suffering a tirade of trolling from followers when a live cook-along experienced technical difficulties.
The 48-year-old had hosted the sold-out online show, which allowed people to cook three courses along with him, but was disrupted constantly by streaming issues. Some of those who paid £35 a ticket to attend were left angry by the experience, but resorted to extreme measures by directing abuse at the chef.
James took to Instagram to apologise for the issues, and revealed he would be following up with the production company and IT team involved. He added: "I wasn’t involved in the IT side of things and know little about it but I will get all the issues raised and sorted as much as I possibly can immediately. It’s unfortunate they didn’t use my team that makes the Saturday show to do this but, as you can imagine, it was all out of my hands.
"To the rest of you who had a good night, thank you but due to the large amount of vile comments posted directly towards me, this will be my last post as I will be taking a break from posting personally and all social media for the foreseeable future."
Followers expressed their sympathy with the chef, with one writing: "I was a guest and it was a good night, I was appalled to see some of the nasty comments."
Others begged James to look after himself, commenting: "Big up to you, don’t let minor irritations dent your motivation, good humour, and professionalism."
We wish James the best.
