Why I Love NARS

Anyone who follows my Instagram account, knows I love make-up. Make-up for me, is more than a statement. It helps me to feel better and feel that I can own my beauty and make it shine even more. Silly I know. But if you, like me, love make-up and not only make-up but GOOD make-up, you may love NARS.

NARS have just released their limited edition Orgasm blush and it’s a thing of beauty. A coral pink that will work anywhere and everywhere.

Having finally got my hands on some NARS products after ages of long, heartfelt gazes at their products, I’m able to write about why NARS has taken a place in my heart so quickly.

Their lipsticks

Major morning decisions.

NARS lipsticks are creamy. They have enough staying power to make your statement work. Funnily enough, their new Audacious lipsticks boast this same sentiment. Berries, pinks, corals, nudes, reds. Every colour is for every woman and man and it’s what you need in your life.

Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow is one of those parts of applying make-up that can go so right and so wrong. Some colours that show up on one type of skin tone, can look so wrong on another. NARS have their new dual intensity eyeshadow and it’s life. It spreads like butter, is very pigmented and just…everything.

NARS Lip-liners

I find that some lip-liners are like a colouring pencil but not in a good way. They drag the lips and can be rough. But NARS lip-liners feel good due their soft texture, so they draw on more like a soft eyeliner. As a fan of berry coloured lipsticks, I would highly recommend Belle Mare and Costa Smeralda.

Probably their most famous make-up product ever, NARS has the ability to make red blusher work. Don’t ask me how. I don’t know. Rather than look like a beautiful (but maybe not office appropriate) costume mask, their red blusher makes you look like you have just breezed through a 5km run, have applied perfect make-up and kept a rosy, well earned exercise glow. Between their Dual Intensity and Super Orgasm blush, you’ll look fabulous.

Eye Palettes

FOUR. WORDS. LIMITED EDITION EYE PALETTES. Those are four words that will send any beauty queen over the edge. Limited edition means that you will pick lipstick over bills, palettes over bills. Oh well. NARS eye palettes combine fabulousness, perfectly matched colours and of course, mattes and shimmers. Breathe. Buttery with great movement on the eyelid. Mmmm.

Concealer

NARS radiant creamy concealer is another YouTube beauty favourite. So many girls use the NARS concealer and it has some wonderful results. You can blend it with a brush or you can use a damp beauty blender. It works well when it’s baked or raw. It stays in place with some fixing spray and it’s your best friend. If you end up wearing a whole face covered in NARS, this is one you’ll be able to say is propping your whole look up.

I’ve spoken about the amazingness of their Survival of the Chicest sets. A little bit of everything that you can carry with you everywhere. Now there are cheek palettes. You can sculpt, bronze and blush. Oh….TAKE MY MONEY.

NARS as a brand

The thing I love about NARS along with their products, are their images.

Too soon for summer color? No way. (Shown: Summer 2016 Color Collection)

As a a lover of 60s and 70s imagery, I find that I’m constantly drawn to NARS just by their flight attendant illustrations alone. Their new

Chic Out collection

shows a beautifully made up woman of colour who looks like she could have been your aunt or mum’s best friend back in the 70s and I can dig it.

Not only that, but the creative director and founder of NARS, Francois Nars’s mottos are perfection in every way.

“Play and try to be a little bit daring - break the rules”
“Don’t be serious; it’s only makeup”
“Express yourself. Makeup should fit who you are”

As a beauty blogger who is new to the game and who still needs help sometimes, I love the idea of being able to make mistakes and still look fabulous and even turn a mistake into a signature look.

If you love NARS, I highly suggest you head to Selfridges or their new store in Covent Garden to see their beautiful products up close but definitely shop online because their limited edition products never stick around for long.
