Whether in cardigan or crop-top form, the material is set to be everywhere for the coming season
With a new season on the horizon, you may be considering the best way to update your wardrobe for autumn/winter 2020. From checks and tassels to bright red hues and patent leather coats, there are plenty of chic catwalk moments to inspire your new-season look. However, one trend which seems to have emerged as one of the most popular on Instagram and with the street-style set is crochet.
The material is often perceived as one which belongs firmly in the summer months. And yet, designers such as Prada, Gucci and Versace have spun it in an autumnal way for the coming season. Another designer who has wholeheartedly embraced the trend for AW20 is Magda Butrym, who has given it a contemporary feel.
"Handmade knitwear has always held a special place in my collections," Butrym told us. "Inspired by traditional Polish artisans, I reinvented the textures into modern chic silhouettes. I take crochet wear in a new, urban direction, shifting from ethnic and folk motives. The vibrant colours of blue, orange and cream highlight even more the contemporary nature of my latest crochet drop. Moving from day to night, paired with a tailored suit it’s a way to work crochet into your pre-fall wardrobe while reminding you of the fun of summer."
