Whoopi Goldberg hints that 'Sister Act 3' could happen in the near future
Whoopi Goldberg has raised hopes that a third Sister Act movie could soon be made.
In an interview with James Corden on The Late Late Show, Goldberg confirmed that she had been trying over the years to follow up the 1992 movie and its 1993 sequel Back in the Habit.
The star plays lounge singer Deloris Wilson in the films, who enters witness protection at a convent after she sees a gangland execution perpetrated by her boyfriend.

Corden asked the 64-year-old Oscar winner why a third movie had never seen the light of day.
Goldberg said: “For a long time, they kept saying no one wanted to see it. And then, quite recently, it turns out that that may not be true. People might want to see it.
“So we’re working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.”
The notion of a third Sister Act movie was first floated back in 2018, as Disney prepared multiple assets in the wake of the launch of the Disney+ streaming service.
Reboots of various franchises were quickly set up, including Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, The Mighty Ducks and 20th Century Fox acquisition Home Alone.

Goldberg evidently still has a lot of love for the Sister Act films, telling Corden that they’re “really fun” cinematic experiences.
She added: “It’s fun and it feels good. And you know, nobody’s mad.
“It’s just bad singing, great singing, okay singing and then nuns. What’s better than that?”

The first Sister Act film earned $140m (£108m) at the domestic box office, with Back in the Habit only managing a considerably smaller $57m (£44m).
A musical based on the story arrived in London’s West End in 2009 and subsequently made the move to Broadway.
