White Lotus writer teases future "all-star season"HBO

The White Lotus creator and writer Mike White has teased the possibility of a future all-star season of the show.

The hit HBO show has worked in an anthology format so far, with a completely new cast for the second season (bar Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya McQuoid).

Speaking about the show's future potential, however, White told The Hollywood Reporter: “It would be easy to just be full-on anthology, but I think it’s more fun to have little threads through the show.

"If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season.”

Referring to each season's starting point of showing a dead body, the writer went on to suggest: “I don’t think it needs to always be a body.

“There are so many ways that we want to reinvent the show each year. Like, what is this show – other than people? A fresh mystery, people maybe expect that. But I don’t feel constrained by expectation. It’s fun.”

The show is currently gearing up for season 3, rumoured to be taking place in Thailand, with season one star Natasha Rothwell set to return as spa manager Belinda Lindsey.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, star Connie Britton denied that she would be returning for the third run of the show following her appearance in the first season.

A spokesperson for the actress said: "She would love to do another season of The White Lotus at some point, but she is not participating in the upcoming season."

The White Lotus airs on HBO Max in the US, and on Sky Atlantic, Sky Go and NOW in the UK.
