With 13 nods, Oppenheimer was the top-nominated film heading into the Oscars. It also won awards for best cinematography, best original score and best film editing; it earned five Golden Globe awards earlier this year and two BAFTA awards (including best director and best picture) from the British Academy.

The film raked in over $950 million worldwide, thanks in part to the Barbenheimer sensation of the summer, with millions of people watching both Barbie and Oppenheimer in theaters. At the 2024 Oscars, best actress nominee Emily Blunt and Barbie‘s best supporting actor nominee Ryan Gosling played up their respective blockbuster films’ rivalry before honoring the stunt community in film.
