Fashion industry vets Indré Rockefeller and Andy Krantz launched Paravel in 2016 with the vision of creating functional suitcases and travel accessories that didn't skimp on style or sustainability. Now, nearly a decade later, the brand has not only turned more than 8 million plastic water bottles into luggage, but their sleek range has become a staple for the most distinguished jet-setters.

"What we were seeing was that the sort of historical universe of, 'pack your bags, go on one long trip a year, come back, put the bags away into storage' was not how people were living anymore," Krantz recalls. "The lines between daily life and and travel were blurring."

So when Krantz and Rockefeller began working on Paravel, "we started talking to some other people about what luggage they had bought recently, what was inside in their suitcase, and how they'd gotten there, and we kept hearing the same line over and over again: 'It was the least worst thing,'" continues Krantz. "It was a a bit of a no-brainer once we realized that we were not alone in this arena. We built something that is personal in a deeply impersonal space."

Since then, the duo have released everything across the board, from elevated carry-on suitcases to weekenders to travel cases with personalization options. Paravel's customized packing cubes, in particular, have become a best-seller simply because how easy they make packing and how well they fit perfectly within the brand's checked Aviator Trunk.

"I was team carry-on only for forever and I converted when we released the Trunk," says Krantz. "The experience of packing it, it is so delightful—they're so satisfying."

Here, Krantz shares more of his winter travel essentials.

Cashmere Cardigan with Buttons and High Collar

"This cardigan is the perfect shade of winter white and it's incredibly comfortable. The craftsmanship is impeccable and it's the type of piece that when you're packing for a cold weather place and you don't have that much room, it can function in a formal setting or if you're hanging out by a fire in the evening. It's just one of those essentials that I try not to go anywhere without."

Brown Check Unlined Cashmere Dressing Gown

"Packing your own robe can feel a bit indulgent, but at the same time, it's [nice] to have that additional feeling of bringing home with you no matter where you are."

Aviator Trunk

"The proportions on the aviator trunk are 75/25. What that does is it gives you a much deeper compartment to work with. If you're taking a ski jacket, for example, and folding it down, or you have bulky sweaters, it just gives you more flexibility as you're packing."

Trunk Packing Suite

"The Trunk is fantastic when used with the Packing Suite because we have the organizational placards on the spine of each of the cubes. When you're doing cold weather travel, I find this essential because it allows you to separate out things you need for a ski day or when you have something that's more formal in the evening. It makes the process of packing, repacking, changing, etc. with a lot of bulk not only manageable but actually quite satisfying."

Laser SC Orea

"These skis are fantastic because they have a softer core, so there's more flex to it, which gives you a bit more versatility. If you're doing moguls, you can do moguls, but if you're also doing easy blues with friends and having a nice ride down, then you've got a good pair that works for you there as well."

The Moisturizing Fresh Cream

"Whether I'm doing a warm weather escape or a cold weather escape for winter, I spend a lot of hours on a plane and my skin is getting exposed to the sun far more hours than it does during the full month preceding the trip. I don't use a ton of skincare products in my everyday life. The new La Mer has all of the classic repairing properties and it has this ability to be a really effective cream in recovering from windburn or straight up sunburn while not being heavy."

Go Generation 2 Starter Set

"The ultimate luxury today is being able to go anywhere, even just for a time period within a trip, without your phone on you. I think there's nothing better and nothing that feels more authentic and restful. What's great about this smaller Polaroid is you can take it with you and snap photos and trade them with people. Everyone has an immediate souvenir. It doesn't get lost in your camera roll or your library."

Manta PRO Sleep Mask

"I cannot sleep with light and I really need my sleep or I struggle the next day. This sleep mask is just brilliant. You can move the eye cups to exactly fit your face, and you can set the bridge to be exactly where it should be. It has C-shaped design and that means when you're on your side, it doesn't bulge out the front of the mask and let light in from that setting. I couldn't—and wouldn't—get on a plane without this thing."

Villa Era. Vigliano

"There's no better time to enjoy a nice bottle of red wine than somewhere cold and wintry. Anytime I'm going through Italy or Switzerland to ski or or just for the holidays, I make a point to bring back a few bottles of this with me. It has a great flavor profile. In the past, I have brought it back using the trunk with wine bottle holders to prevent leaks and spills."
