What the Princess Diana outfits in the 'Spencer' trailer tell us about the film's fashion credentials
Watch: Spencer teaser trailer
The first trailer for the hotly-anticipated Princess Diana film Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart, has finally been released - giving us the first taster of Stewart's suitably plummy accent and what looks to be a movie packed with agonising emotions.
But what we also need to know is...will the movie provide a major fashion moment when it hits cinemas in November?
The film by Jackie director Pablo Larraín, set across three days of Sandringham Christmas celebrations in 1991 as Diana came to terms with the end of her marriage, sees Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran on wardrobe duties.
And with Durran being previously responsible for both Keira Knightley's iconic green silk Atonement dress and the gorgeous prairie-style outfits in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, we're expecting great things from the Spencer costumes - especially given Diana's enduring status as a style icon.
The striking first poster for Spencer features Stewart crouched and weeping into the skirt of an embellished white and gold dress.
Nevertheless, the dress isn't actually a reproduction of one that Diana wore in real life.
Instead, it's seemingly inspired by various similar white dresses which she was photographed wearing - including an off-the-shoulder belted gown by Bellville Sassoon she wore to the V&A in London and, of course, her famous wedding dress by David and Elizabeth Emanuel with its voluminous skirts.
According to a Spencer spokesperson, this is indicative of what we can expect from the film's costumes - looks loosely inspired by Diana's fashion across the years, rather than historical reproductions of a particular moment in time.
Nevertheless, in some ways Spencer will clearly closely recreate specific outfits. The trailer shows Stewart wearing a tartan jacket which looks almost identical to a Catherine Walker jacket which Diana loved and wore repeatedly throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s.
It also depicts Stewart wearing a red coat and black veiled hat, which closely recalls an outfit Diana wore at Christmas 1993.
The coat used in filming is supposedly sourced from Chanel's 1988/89 collection, thanks, no doubt, to Stewart's role as an ambassador for the label.
One scene sees Diana talking to a friend on a beach in a loose varsity-style jacket, which echoes a Philadelphia Eagles jacket the princess used to wear off-duty.
Stewart is also pictured outside in grand gardens in a yellow skirt suit with a distinctive curved matching hat - which looks just like a different coloured version of a purple outfit worn by Diana during her Australian tour.

One thing's for sure - Spencer is as likely to make headlines for its incredible costume wardrobe as for Stewart's performance and its sensitive portrayal of Diana in turmoil.
