HBO Max has unveiled a first trailer for its reunion special of The West Wing.

Stars Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, and Bradley Whitford, who are all set to reprise their respective roles, all appear in the clip unveiled on Thursday.

Sterling K Brown, who has joined the cast for the programme, also features.

The West Wing special will consist in a theatrical stage presentation of the season three episode “Hartsfield’s Landing”, which aired for the first time in 2002.

Dubbed A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, the event supports When We All Vote, a non-profit organisation co-chaired by Michelle Obama, which aims to increase participation in American elections.

WarnerMedia, HBO Max’s parent company, has pledged to make a donation to When We All Vote “in honour of the special”.

The episode is scheduled to air on 15 October. Brown will star as Leo McGarry, portrayed by the late John Spencer in the original. Spencer died in 2005 of a heart attack.

Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Elisabeth Moss, and Samuel L Jackson are all set to make appearances during the programme.

In addition to the reunion special, HBO Max will air election-themed episodes of The West Wing on Fridays starting from 9 October to the US presidential election on 3 November.
