West Ham were punished for a glut of missed chances as Manchester United came from behind to claim a 3-1 win at the London Stadium.

The Hammers rightfully led through Tomas Soucek’s first half goal before the introduction of Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford at the break changed everything.

Goals from Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford killed any hope of a dream return for West Ham fans.

Here’s how Jack Rosser rated the West Ham players…

Lukasz Fabianski 6

Could do little about the two goals, made a smart stop from Anthony Martial in the first half.

Fabian Balbuena 6

Imperious in the first half but could do little against Rashford after his introduction.

Angelo Ogbonna 5

Too slow in pushing up and played Rashford well on side for the third goal just as Moyes pushed for a leveller.

Aaron Cresswell 6

Continues to impress in the back three, got forward well when he head the chance.

Vladimir Coufal 6

Had the chance to double the lead early in the second half but dawdled and opted to cross for Bowen.

Tomas Soucek 7

Covered every blade of grass in the first half and slipped free for his goal, tired a little in the second as United pushed on.

Declan Rice 7

Towering presence in midfield alongside Soucek, leads by example and always finds himself in the right place to stop counters

Arthur Masuaku 6

Got into fine positions going forward, decision making could have been sharper in the final third.

Jarrod Bowen 8

West Ham’s greatest threat throughout the first half and unlucky not to have a goal and an assist. Getting better with every game.

Pablo Fornals 6

Much improved from the Aston Villa game but struggled to get forward after the introduction of Rashford on his wing.

Sebastien Haller 5

Worked hard but it all fell apart in one first half moment when the striker lost his footing just as he was about to tap into an empty net.

Substitutes

Said Benrahma 6

Pulled West Ham forward late on and gave United something to think about, but couldn’t get the hosts back in it.

Manuel Lanzini 6

Linked well with Benrahma and Haller late on, the two attacking substitutes making a good case to start against Leeds.

Ben Johnson n/a
