This Week's Best Trainer Drops
The freshest kicks out this week, and they're all on sale, which is really, really great.
- 3/53
2) Adidas
It's easy to mistrust sale items as the stuff nobody wants. But the people always want Adidas, especially the classic Originals line in nice, little-bit-smarter suede colourways – and they want it even more when it's 30 per cent off.

3) Adidas Consortium x Alife
Alife is the sort of New York brand that predates the whole New York new prep thing. That means it has plenty of brand capital. And, you can multiply that by 10 when said brand partners with Adidas Consortium for big colour at a small price.
Nizz Hi-Tops,
£100£65, endclothing.com - 5/53
4) Fendi
While overbranded trainers can seem gauche, Fendi does low-key, 2D logomania with nothing more than fine Italian craftsmanship and a dual-tone stripe to the upper bearing the house's name. Helps that they're 40 per cent off too.
Logo Print Trainers,
£670£402, matchesfashion.com - 6/53
5) Ami
French minimalism, but a bit fun: Ami's MO has catapulted the brand into menswear's canon. This thinking translates well to trainers too, with a logo-embroidered design balancing mesh and suede panels in a sneak that's been marked down to half of the original price.

6) Vans
The OG from Vans has cemented itself as a new menswear classic. That means you need some, and now, there's no excuse, with all-white all-rounders now available for much less at Mr Porter.
OG Style 36,
£98.01£68.61, mrporter.com - 8/53
7) Last week (and beyond)... Comme des Garçons x Converse
In the fabled world of hi-tops, there is but one C-word. Now there's two, as Converse hooks up with Comme des Garçons for a love-in that's a shoo-in for your next big fun winter sneak.
Chuck Taylor 1970s, £130, endclothing.com
- 9/53
8) Reebok
Lockdown 3.0? You betcha! So as you go back to the Eighties with a work(out) from home step-up class, go back to the Eighties trainer supreme in the Reebok Workout Plus.

9) Salomon
The sort of trainer your cooler mate wears down the pub and you think 'can I wear them too, or is it just him' and you realise that yes, you can wear them, because cool trainers are a right, not a privilege, and you should own a pair of Salomon S/Lab Blue XT-4s too.
Blue XT-4 Trainers, £155, brownsfashion.com
- 11/53
10) Prada
Made in Italy and worn at the skytrain terminal of Neo-Milan 2093, Prada's step into the world of luxury sneakers is a functional one (think hardy rubber uppers and stompy silhouettes) but also a futuristic one.
White Techno Stretch Trainers, £795, brownsfashion.com

12) Adidas x Pharrell Williams
Who better to take a spin on a timeless sneaker than a man who doesn't respect the passage of time in the first place? Pharrell Williams brings a Primeknit upper to the classic, all-cream Superstar low-tops, and the famous rubber toe has been replaced with ridged stitching, all finished off with a mint green HUMAN RACE logo.
Adidas x Pharrell Williams Superstar, £120, endclothing.com
- 14/53
13) Hoka One One
French running brand Hoka One One (pronounced 'own-ay own-ay', after the Maori word for 'to fly over the earth') is as a regular a sighting on fashion week streets as it is half-marathons. It's easy to see why. This super bright, buttery colourway will cut through the foggy weather with ease.
Hoka One One Challenger ATR 6, £115, endclothing.com
- 15/53
14) Adidas X Prada
It's a bumper week for Adidas Superstar collabs. These are named after Prada's sailing team, and despite looking like the kind of shoe you want to preserve on a very high mantelpiece, performance is at the icy-white heart of their design. Adidas's stripes are visible, as is Prada’s red LUNA ROSSA logo line, which runs up the back heel. Get in there quick.

15) New Balance
Crafted in New Balance's factory in Flimby, Cumbria, the subdued grey, green and navy colourway of the M991GBT help to balance out the shoe's wavily elaborate design. Proof, if you needed it, that you don’t need to enlist zany, headache-inducing colours to draw attention to yourself (though they do a lot of that as well, FYI).
M991GBT – Made in England 'Nu Block', £169, endclothing.com
- 17/53
16) Tom Ford
When it comes to smart trainers, most people opt for a pricy white pair. About five seconds later, they almost inevitably get ruined – either that or the owner becomes unhealthily fixated with them, spending all of their weekends gently brushing them with expensive toothpaste. What we're trying to say is: get a black pair instead. Tom Ford, as ever, is the elevated option.
Cambridge Leather-Trimmed Suede Sneakers, £590, mrporter.com
- 18/53
17) Louis Vuitton
(Red) – the Bono-launched charity that seeks to help fund HIV and Aids-related research projects – has now partnered up with Louis Vuitton for a pair of bright red and white mid-tops. A significant portion of proceeds will go to (Red). They're limited to just 150 pairs. These are very, very good trainers.

18) Armani Exchange
When you think Armani, your mind doesn't necessarily jump to trainers. But it should, really, because Armani Exchange – the Italian heavyweight's off-shoot – is very good at making them, as these techno fabric white sneakers can attest.
AX Sneakers, £126, armaniexchange.com
- 21/53
20) New Balance
Didn't get your hands on Casablanca x New Balance? That's okay! Don't get upset! Because the latest MS32PG7 is remarkably similar, with just enough colour to be a bit fun, but still quiet enough to provide a solid base to most stuff in your wardrobe.
MS327PG Trainers, £99, endclothing.com

21) Adidas
Another sneak designed to pay tribute to a European city, and like the Köln and the München, the Adidas Barcelona is classic, a little bit Seventies and proof that Europe is pretty cool, actually.
Barcelona Trainers, £85, mrporter.com
- 23/53
22) Puma
And the odes to the mainland don't stop there! First released in the Seventies, the Puma Madrid celebrates the Spanish capital (with a black and yellow colourway?) and a muted suede shape that works just as well on these more pallid shores.
Madrid 1909 Trainer, £75, endclothing.com
- 24/53
23) Last week (and beyond)... Onitsuka Tiger
You may recognise the slimline, punchy Onistuka Tiger trainer from Kill Bill Vol. I, in which it's routinely slapped around the face of a poor Yakuza lackey. But now, it's less slimline, and it's in a trainer-boot format (we'll call it a brainer for now, because menswear loves an unnecessary portmanteau), and it's really, really handsome.

24) Moncler
Running-inspired, but far too handsome to suffer a November run, Moncler's new Trevor silhouette is the sort of technical, near-future trainer that've had the sneaker world all shook up for some time now. They'll probably stay that way for a while now.
Trevor Trainer, £445, moncler.com
- 26/53
25) Adidas x Wales Bonner
Wales Bonner's dancehall-inspired menswear of S/S '21 has found a second life in the Adidas Samba: an artefact of football culture from 1949, and a blank canvas for the Jamaican community of the 1970s too.
Samba Shoes, £149.95, adidas.co.uk
- 27/53
26) Stepney Workers Club
Everyday trainers don't need to look like everyone else's. Like Stepney Workers Club, which is black (fine), from a brand still on the ascendance (finer) and complete with unusual embroidery that makes just the right amount of noise (more than fine).
Shin Kicker, £95, endclothing.com

27) Jacques Soloviere
Designed in Paris, made in Italy, and worn everywhere else: this holy trinity of trainers by Jacques Soloviere ticks off all the boxes (including the bubbling-under brand cachet box).
Sky Suede Trainers, £330, matchesfashion.com
- 29/53
28) Yatay
Yatay has always made trainers that look good, and do good. They don't use leather. They minimise their impact upon the environment, too. And now, the outfit has paired up with non-profit No More Plastic for a line of trainers that are completely plastic free. These ones were designed by Amelia Windsor: an extended member of the royal family, which is very timely, as the new series of The Crown is meant to be quite good.
No More Plastic Trainers, £260, yatayatay.com
- 30/53
29) Adidas x Jonah Hill
Jonah Hill's take on the Adidas Samba keeps all the classic touches of the marquee sneak, but still manages to make it fun.

30) Converse

Chuck Taylor 1970s, £75, endclothing.com
- 32/53
31) A.P.C.
Winter trainers don't have to be all dour and Euro-hikery. Instead, A.P.C. (as A.P.C. so often does) stuck to lighter, brighter touches for its mesh and suede sneaker. Which will probably last far beyond the winter, too.
Herbert Trainers, £270, matchesfashion.com
- 33/53
32) Nike
Gore-Tex is practical. It's also very cool now, as the Nike Air Force 1 GTX can attest with its waterproof construction that, again, doesn't cosy up to the trend for all things trail sneakers.
Air Force 1 GTX, £129, endclothing.com

33) Vans x Quartersnacks
Though Vans is a household name, it takes great care as to not stray too far from its roots. So when it pairs up with Quartersnacks – a go-to for the New York skateboarding scene – it keeps the marque on-track. And non-skaters are still into it.
Old Skool Pro Ltd Shoes, £74.99, slamcity.com
- 36/53
35) Puma
Blue suede shoes from the deep red South, the Puma Dallas was one of the most sought after trainers of the 1980s. Twenty years later, it is, once again, one of the most sought after trainers (or ours, at least).
Dallas Madrid Sneakers, £79, endclothing.com

36) Vans
The Vans OG is one of the safest, most reliable trainers of all time. That's why we've all got a pair. But to mix up the current format (which is great), go for purple panelling and suede trims (which is even greater).
Purple OG Era LX Trainers, £70, mrporter.com
- 38/53
37) Asics x Gmbh
The half-and-half trend extends to trainers too as Asics and German outfit Gmbh team up for a mad, fluoro twist on a classic silhouette. Sehr gut.
- 39/53
38) Adidas
The nights are long. The days are short. The pandemic is in full swing. But get a pair of Adidas Gazelles on your feet – in a sunny shade of yellow, no less – and bop through your one daily window of exercise like it's a Katrina & The Waves video. Winter's so great!

- 42/53
41) Adidas
Japanese produced; German raised; universally stanned. Yes, the Adidas München may lack the cachet of the Gazelle or the Samba, but it's just as good.

42) Primury
White minimalist trainers, but new! But a bit different! Which is exactly what Primury has done, rebuilding a tried-and-tested shape in recycled cotton with showy wild latex trims.
Divid Trainers, £115, matchesfashion.com
- 44/53
43) Bottega Veneta
Slip-on sneakers as cushioned and cosy as your bed – if it was made of the finest Italian fabrics, and lived within a low-key understated penthouse in the 16th arrondissement. Bottega Veneta knows how to do luxury comfies, trainers included.
Intrecciatio Slip-On Trainers, £715, matchesfashion.com
- 45/53
44) Raf Simons
Raf Simons has worked at almost every big brand going, thus, making his own name a big brand in itself. But unlike his contemporaries, you can clinch fully branded (and fully minimal) sneakers at half the usual cost of designer sneakers. Vegan leather, too: thrifty, and eco-friendly. We'll take two.

46) Acne Studios
2020 isn't real. The rules are out the window. That means you switch the usual funeral blacks for winter and get something mad, something a bit like an Acne Studios leather, mesh and suede mash-up.
Bolzter Trainers, £410, matchesfashion.com
- 48/53
47) Puma
You own a black pair of trainers, and you own a white pair, and you think: all the staples covered. Well, you thought wrong, didn't you, because navy completes the holy trinity, and in the shell of Puma's retro VTG, it's a shade that'll stay in your rotation for quite some time.

- 50/53
49) Buttero
Alone, the word 'butter' is an essential. In plural, it's an insult. But with a simple 'o' at the end, it's an ascendant Italian marque that plugs fine Milanese sort of craftsmanship into genuinely modern shapes. Spread it.

51) Converse x Golf Le Fleur
Tyler, the Creator – and shoemaker – has made his irregular collab with Converse a regular thing. That means another chunky trail hiker on acid, and another imminent bestseller for the crossover project.
Gianno Suede Lo-Top, £110, converse.com
- 53/53
52) Nike
If you want a Seventies trainer without the usual Seventies kaleidoscope, Nike's pared back the classic Tailwind into monochrome – and safer – waters with a solid new palette.
