Proposal And Preparation: The Journey To One Bloggers Wedding

Here starts my Wedding Planning Journey, the preparation to the Big Day when I will marry my one-and-only.

I find it truly magical how Ronaldo and I have found each other - he is from Brazil, I was born in Hungary and we happened to sign up to the same English course in Connecticut, USA in September 2010.

Ronaldo’s first challenge was to approach me as I wasn’t a very friendly person with my 19 years of age… I just liked to sit with my friend Sandra, not talking to anyone else but her, and rushing home after class.

It is funny when he tells me he remembers sitting behind me thinking how was he ever going to say “hi”, as I seemed to be the grumpiest girl in the class. Eventually he got my number and we started to go out.

Noémi and her fiancée Ronaldo

I spent loads of time with him and his friends as they became my family overseas. When I think about our relationship, what I most love about us is that we started off as friends, and to this day he is still my best friend. There is something wonderful about knowing that you have a person besides you who supports you, loves you, but also guides and corrects you.

We did enjoy America but it was time for us to move on in order to settle down. We discussed that Ronaldo would move back to Brasil and see if it would be a good choice for us to live there, and I would look around in Europe.

I came to London in September 2012, and soon fell in love with all the opportunities the city has to offer. After 1 year of ‘long-distance relationship’ trying to visit each other as often as possible Ronaldo moved here as well.

On our 5th anniversary he popped the question and he totally got me. The ring was exactly what I always imagined, and I was just so happy to become his fiancée.

As our wedding will be in Hungary, we did not want to rush it as his family would have to come all the way from Brasil and we wanted to give them enough time to plan their journey. We picked September 2017 for the date so we still have nearly a year to organise everything.

My Grandma told me once, she always wanted to attend a wedding in the most famous Basilica of Hungary: Szent István Bazilika. A truly amazing place for sure.

For the reception and dinner I want something charmy and nice, elegant, almost posh but still comfortable ambiance. We went to see a few places, but Pálmaház (Palm House) was definitely the winner. The venue belongs to the 4-star Hotel Kristaly (Chrystal), which is great news as most of our guests will need accomodation coming from overseas. They have many saunas, a pool, so I am looking forward to the spa-day following the wedding. It will be much needed.

Looking forward to start the fun part, trying on dresses (my first stop will be the Pronovias Salon on New Bond street), makeup trials, mood boards for my guests with outfit suggestions and so on…

I will be sharing with you every step of this journey, stay tuned!
