Rihanna came, saw, and conquered the Oscars stage—just like she did the carpet in her custom Alaïa look. The singer, who's pregnant with her second child, took to the mic to sing 'Lift Me Up' from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is nominated for Best Original Song tonight. Her vocals were stunning, and her outfit was impeccable. The singer wore an embellished custom Maison Margiela Artisanal look on stage. It was created for Rihanna by John Galliano. Fans quickly shared footage of the performance on Twitter:

Prior to the ceremony, Rihanna confirmed her Oscars performance on her Instagram cheekily, sharing new photos of her and A$AP Rocky's son. 'My son when he found out his sibling is going to the Oscars and not him @theacademy #oscarnominee #oscarperformancein1week swipe for tb of my fat man,' she shared.

Rihanna revealed she slept in the studio to make “Lift Me Up.” In November 2022, Rihanna told Vogue, “Just recently I pushed through three days at the studio in a row—like, slept in the studio—to get a song done because it’s a project that’s really important to me coming out. I believed it, and I wanted to be a part of it, so I got it done.”

She told British Vogue last month that she will be releasing more new music this year. “I want it to be this year,” she said of her highly-anticipated ninth album. “Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos.”

She added that she is striving to let go of her perfectionistic impulse so she'd finally release the album. “I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it’s going to keep taking forever and maybe it’ll never come out and no, I’m not down to that,” she said. “So I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can’t say them out loud yet.”
