Promising Young Woman swept the floor with its 2021 Academy Award nominations, before scooping up the Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars last night [24 April.] But how can you watch it in the UK? The film is actually already available to stream online: here's what you need to know.

While Carey Mulligan wasn't named in the Best Actress category during the Academy Awards, Emerald Fennell (aka The Crown's Camilla Parker-Bowles) was the first woman in 13 years to scoop up the Best Original Screenplay gong.

In her acceptance speech, she said, "he’s so heavy and so cold" referring to her Oscar, before thanking her leading actor Carey Mulligan, for being “not only the most talented person in the world but also the kindest and funniest”. She also thanked her family and her newborn son, who arrived “two weeks after shooting, thank God. I was crossing my legs.”

Promising Young Woman stars Carey Mulligan, Alison Brie, Laverne Cox and Jennifer Coolidge, and tells the story of Cassie (played by Carey), a woman who seeks to avenge the death of her best friend, who was a victim of rape.

An unexpected encounter leads her to attempt to right the wrongs of the past, by pretending to be a drunk vulnerable woman who then confronts the men who attempt to take advantage of her, leading a secret double life at night.
