How to watch The Phantom of the Opera online for free as Andrew Lloyd Webber releases classic musicals online

The next Andrew Lloyd Webber show announced to stream online is a biggun’ – The Phantom of the Opera will be streaming this week.

A filmed special 25th anniversary version, which took place at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, will be released this Friday as part of a series of the composer’s musicals being put online.

Running since 1986, Phantom is the second longest-running West End musical (after Les Mis) and is a firm favourite with fans all over the world.

Lloyd Webber is announcing a new show to be screened on YouTube every week, so we’ll keep you updated.

How to watch The Phantom of the Opera online free:

The musical will be available to watch from 7pm on Friday April 17 on YouTube. It will be available to viewers in the UK for 24 hours afterwards.

While it is free to watch, the channel is encouraging viewers to donate to a number of charities to support theatremakers: Acting for Others, Broadway Cares and Actors Benevolent Fund.

Who is in the cast?

The 25th anniversary cast has Ramin Karimloo playing the Phantom with Sierra Boggess as Christine, performing with a cast and orchestra of more than 200. As it was a particularly special occasion, a number of special guests made appearances too – original cast members Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman and John Owen-Jones.

What is The Phantom of the Opera about?

Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical tells the story of a masked musical genius who lives underneath a Paris opera house and falls in love with a beautiful soprano. It features such songs as All I Ask of You, Music of the Night and, of course, The Phantom of the Opera.
