Watch Kate Middleton react to being asked if she's "the Prince" by a young fan

·3-min read

We're pretty sure than in the decade she's been carrying out royal duties, Kate Middleton has been asked a lot of questions covering an array of topics, but we bet they're not usually half as adorable/amusing as one she received yesterday (25 May).

Kate and William stopped off at the archipelago of Orkney during their current Scotland tour, where they met a group of schoolchildren who were waiting to greet them.

The children were at the the European Marine Energy Centre, where the royals were spending time learning about Orkney's push for carbon zero and hydrogen power. Kate and Will also took a boat out to sea to visit the world's largest tidal energy turbine.

So far, so fun, but this is where the story gets incredibly sweet thanks to one child's interesting choice of question.

HELLO!'s Royal Editor Emily Nash caught on video the moment the child asked: "Are you the Prince?" while pointing at Kate as she bent down to chat. Shaking her head, Kate replied: "I'm not a Prince. I'm the Duchess of Cambridge. Lots of people call me Catherine."

We respect both the child for getting to it with the important questions and Kate, for graciously confirming that she isn't, in fact, the Prince.

According to HELLO! the exchange didn't stop there. The magazine reports that when a little girl then shouted out: "She's a Princess!" Kate sweetly asked her: "Are you? Are you a Princess?" When the girl shook her head, the Duchess replied: "Aww, you look like one in your beautiful pink coat."

We're sure this is both a school trip and royal tour moment to remember for all involved.

In other unexpected Kate Middleton news this week, we've also learned that Kate has a talent for... DJing?

Just days into the Scotland tour, the Duchess of Cambridge got a chance to play DJ during a visit to the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, a national centre of expertise in tackling violence.

As seen in the video below - taken by royal correspondent Rebecca English - Kate is a natural when it comes to scratching records. Meanwhile, the Duke of Cambridge seemingly took a backseat as he proudly watched his wife behind the decks.

Well, they do say life comes at you fast, and it seems to be true for Kate this week what with the public DJing and denials of being the Prince. We look forward to seeing how the rest of the royal tour plays out.
