Every week, Bazaar's booking team highlights one name to note, from the industry's best-known faces to girls who are just starting out. This week, we turn our attention to Tatum Marchetti.

At only 19 years old, Marchetti holds herself with grace and confidence beyond her years. Since being discovered and signed to Elite models, she made her runway debut at the Givenchy spring/summer 2018 show. Marchetti wore knee-high cowboy boots, and demanded the attention of the room with her striking copper tresses and ivory complexion. Her distinctive look didn’t go unnoticed.

The model displayed the poise and elegance of a true English rose in a coral-pink look at Hermès' pre-fall 2018 show. Candy-coloured soft leathers contrasted brilliantly with her sleek, ruby-hued hair. Could Marchetti's mythical bone structure and luminous skin make her the next addition to Models.com’s Top 50 list? “The first thing you notice about Tatum is her beautiful auburn hair and porcelain skin,” says Ashley Garrod at Elite Models. “But her striking face really sets her apart from her fellow redheads. Her strong looks are beautifully refined and give her an edge that clients love.”

We talk to the rising star about home comforts, how she keeps her skin glowing and how she would advise fellow models breaking into the industry.

How were you discovered?

“I was first scouted at the O2 arena where I went with my two friends to see a concert for my 15th birthday.”

If you weren’t modelling, which career would you pursue and why?

“Definitely something to do with animals. I would love to work for the RSPCA – I’m really passionate about animal welfare.”

What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far?

“It would have to be walking exclusively for Givenchy's S/S 18 show in Paris.”

How do you spend your free time?

“My guilty pleasure is watching crime and health-related documentaries. I also love to read through vegan recipe books and make meals for my family.”

Do you have any travel tips for those visiting your home town?

“I would definitely recommend going to my home town, Leigh-on-Sea [in Essex]. It is a historical fishing town filled with fishing boats, pubs, small boutiques, wharfs and cockle sheds that stretch along the shoreline – very picturesque! There’s nothing better than taking a stroll along the cobbled streets to the small beach or enjoying a glass of wine in one of the many lovely bars or restaurants.”

What are the three products you can’t live without?

Carmex, my portable Bose speaker and my Mario Berdescu facial spray, which I always keep this in my bag if I’m out and about and need to give my face a refreshing glow.”

What is your favourite form of exercise?

“I go to the gym at least four times a week. My usual routine consists of running and 50 reps on the core machine, and I also attend hot-yoga classes. Hot yoga not only benefits me physically, but mentally, and it is a great way for me to destress.”

What is your dream shoot?

“I’ve only been a full-time model since completing my A levels last summer, so I’m still fairly new to modelling and am looking forward to working with different photographers. Everyone I’ve met on my journey so far has been amazing and taught me so much.”

Name your five essential items you wouldn’t leave the house without.

“My Beats headphones, my mobile phone for my Citymapper app, a bottle of water, my portable charger and a hairbrush.”

If you had to wear only one designer, who would it be?

“I have too many favourites to pick just one! I love mixing designers with high-street brands to make my look my own. However, I’ll always have a special love for Clare [Waight Keller] and her new Givenchy collection with those amazing cowboy boots.”

What kind of advice would you give to new girls to the industry?

“Always stay true to yourself. Never get your hopes up about anything – your time will come. Be kind to other models and stay grounded. Always be on time.”

Is there a model’s career that you admire and why?

“I met Peyton Knight in London when she first started modelling and I’ve seen her career flourish. I admire how grounded and dedicated she is, and anyone who makes it to the top from starting off completely unknown.”

What is your life motto?

“Don’t take life too seriously.”

Let’s talk about favourites. What about...

…music? “I love hip hop and rap. I used to dance in a crew.”

…movies? “Anything that makes me laugh.”

…books? “I’m currently reading Sapiens: A brief history of humankind.”

…food? “Clean and vegan.”
