Theresa May has announced she will stand down as Prime Minister on 7 June.

Her reign was marked by Brexit turmoil, and she admitted in her farewell speech that she regretted not being able to convince the MPs to back her bill.

Critics said she failed to seek consensus until it was far too late; others pointed to the fact that Parliament’s inability to reach agreement meant no Prime Minister could have succeeded delivering an orderly exit.
