Warning after swan eggs thrown and smashed by group of teens

A nest of 10 swan eggs has been damaged by a group of teenagers in King's Lynn.

The incident happened in Mellisham Walk on Monday, March 20, at around 5pm when a group of youths were seen throwing swan eggs.

Police have warned that at this time of year, the nests of wild birds can be at risk from egg collectors.

Local police have been patrolling areas where birds tend to make nests and lay their eggs.

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 it is illegal to possess wild bird eggs taken in contravention of the Protection of Birds Act 1954.
