Kate's taste is so universally admired that pretty much everything she wears sells out - and we think we've just found the perfect item to imitate her style on a budget.
When you think of Kate’s fashion, your mind will probably jump to those retro-inspired tea dresses she's so fond of.
You know, the vintage-looking ones with the spots and statement collars? These are by Italian designer Alessandra Rich, and the royal has worn her clothes time and time again - from Wimbledon and Ascot this summer, to the Duke of Edinburgh’s memorial service in March.
These feminine and timeless dresses - almost always complete with an A-Line silhouette and high neck or statement collar - have become embedded into the blueprint of Kate's style in recent years. However, they don't come cheap. An authentic Alessandra Rich gown would set you back somewhere between £1,200 and £1,800.
The Princess debuted this dress in 2018 for then-Prince Charles' Birthday Family Portrait, and then wore it again in 2019 during a visit to the Bletchley Park D-Day Exhibition.
While you might not be able to afford the real deal, there is a way to channel your inner Kate without the eye-watering price tag. Right now, good old Marks & Spencer is selling a £89 dress that looks so similar like Kate's navy blue spotty Alessandra Rich dress.
M&S's cheaper alternative is by a brand called Finery London, and we reckon it would slot right into the royal's wardrobe like a piece of the furniture. This navy and white polka dot dress is so similar to Kate's - featuring the same sophisticated cut, pearly buttons, and contrasting white collared neck. The only differences are the shorter sleeves, fewer buttons, and missing leg slit. Oh, and the price of course.
This piece also comes in burgundy, plain black or with longer sleeves, and it's super popular on the M&S website. We've even seen it on Instagram, with people flocking to the comments section to say how much it reminds them of the stylish royal. The burgundy version is already starting to sell out, so you better add your favourite to your cart and check out before it's too late!
Kate is known for rewearing outfits in attempt to be more sustainable, and for pairing more expensive clothes with high-street accessories. So, if you really want to the royal seal of approval, you'll have to get creative. For example, wear it in the winter with tights and go bare-legged in warmer months. Wear it to work with flats, a trench coat, and an oversized tote bag, or dress it up with pointy-toe heels, pearl earrings, and a simple clutch bag for the evening.
Thanks to Kate, this style of dress will be forever trendy, so we suggest you head to the M&S site and invest ASAP.
