If you want to up your beauty game forget forking out £££ on ‘miracle’ products, Victoria Beckham has revealed that the secret to flawless skin isn’t about what you slap on your body, but what you put into it.

In a recent interview with The Edit, the fashion designer shared that her surprising skin secret starts with your diet.

“I see a dermatologist in LA, called Dr. Harold Lancer, who is incredible. I’ve known him for years – he sorted my skin out,” she explained. “I used to have really problematic skin and he said to me, ‘You have to eat salmon every single day.’ I said, 'Really, every day?’ And he said, 'Yes; breakfast, lunch or dinner, you have to eat it every single day.’”

Getting a daily salmon fix may seem a little on the extreme side, but actually there’s some pretty convincing evidence to back it up.

According to science salmon and other fatty fish are packed full of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins A and C. Not only do these act as anti-inflammatories and help moisturise skin, but several studies have shown a link between healthy skin and fish consumption.

One such study, published in the European Journal of Dermatology, revealed that people who ate a diet rich in fish and vegetables suffered significantly less spot breakouts than those who didn’t. While others suggested that salmon could prevent acne altogether. Wowzers.

So next time you’re tempted to blow the budget in the beauty aisle, you might be better skipping straight to fish counter to stockpile the salmon.
