From Red Online

This week, the most stylish fashion crowds from around the world jetted off to Tokyo, to view Giorgio Armani's first ever Cruise collection (a pre-collection between the normal spring/summer and autumn/winter seasons), usually full of fabulous holiday wear for the St Tropez set, the physical styles from the collection won't be available until 2020, but there are some key fashion trends we spotted that can certainly be adapted now.

Red's Fashion Director Oonagh Brennan talks us through her top 5 trends and shows us how we can add some Italian style to our look as we head into summer

Black dresses for summer

Don't save your elegant black dress just for winter or for an evening out. In true Italian style, black is the colour of choice. This season wear in fluid silk fabrics, or as shown here in pin-tucked organza - so chic and so versatile.

Top-to-toe neutrals

Nothing looks more put together than a full outfit in cool neutrals - stick to one shade or layer various tonal hues for a sophisticated look. Do as Armani does and add little pop of colour with accessories to lift the look.

Bold plastic jewellery

Summer is the time to be bold with accessories, and Armani makes a statement here with oversized red plastic pieces and matchy-matchy layers of beads around the neck and the wrist. What better time to have fun with your accessories?

Dresses over trousers

This is a great way to get those summer dresses out early on in the season, and to continue to wear your favourite styles as the days get shorter and cooler. It's bang on trend right now and will instantly update the simplest of styles.

Cinched waists

Colour-blocked suiting and shirt dresses are modern when the waist is cinched in and when luxury fabrics like silk are worn in a casual manner.
