Waitrose Is Selling A Cute Tortoise Easter EggWaitrose

Easter might be over two months away, but it's officially arrived at Waitrose and boy are we glad to see it.

The supermarket's eggy chocolate character Sunny Side Sam is back for Easter 2023, and he's brought some adorable friends with him! Take It Slow Boe is perhaps the cutest milk chocolate tortoise we've ever seen, and Hip Hop Harri is a cheery milk chocolate who carries a scrummy salted caramel carrot.

If you're after some bite-sized treats instead, look no further than the gorg-sounding Carrot Cake and Scrambled Fudge made with rich Belgian choc and marshmallow swirls. Hello heaven.

Now let's get to the more grown up treats. The No.1 Hidden Truffle Eggs are back in three sophisticated flavours: Blonde Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate.

Plus, Heston Blumenthal's Dark Chocolate Dabbit filled with salted blonde chocolate truffle. No, Dabbit isn't a spelling error, as the design of the Easter treat looks like it could be both a duck and a rabbit. An optical illusion Easter egg, wowee.

There are loads of baked goods coming soon too, from a stunning Easter Chocolate & Orange Panettone studded with candied orange and lemon peel and finished with milk chocolate and multi-coloured sugar sprinkles to Lemon Easter Egg Shortbread and Easter Carrot Patch Cake.

Also new for 2023 is a fun savoury hot cross bun from the No.1 range. The new buns combine West Country mature Cheddar, a splash of stout and a pinch of cracked black pepper to create a baked good that's divine with plenty of butter slathered on, or as part of an epic Easter breakfast sarnie with a fried egg and bacon.

All these lovely Easter bits use Fairtrade cocoa, come with no unnecessary plastic packaging, and Waitrose has stopped using plastic trays and removed plastic windows from nearly all of their Easter confectionery too!

While that might not sound like a massive deal, it's actually reduced Waitrose's overall packaging weight by almost 20%, saving nearly 1 tonne of plastic from going to landfill. Chocolate you can feel amazing about buying - that's something we can definitely get on board with.

The Hot Cross buns are available now, and the new Easter confectionary will be available in UK Waitrose stores and online from 7th February.
