Vigil spoilers follow.
Vigil viewers have seen the slow burn of romance between Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva (Gentleman Jack's Suranne Jones) and Detective Sergeant Kirsten Longacre (Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie) play out through a series of flashbacks – from Amy's initial surprise and resistance to the relationship, to its blossoming and hints at why it ended before she arrived on submarine HMS Vigil.
Kirsten's feisty personality though developed into a compassionate and understanding partnership which saw the two give in to their feelings during the fourth episode in a moment of intense vulnerability.
Fans have coined the couple 'Silvacre', something which Patterson Joseph – who plays Commander Neil Newsome, the Captain of HMS Vigil – says they are "going bananas for".
"Silvacre is out there," he said at a BAFTA Q&A session. "It's trending. They're going bananas for Silvacre.
"I thought it was one of the most beautiful 'they get together' scenes I've ever seen. The lighting, the way it was, the stakes, the fact that it's so sort of new for [Amy]. Especially if you're a kid just on the cusp of figuring out your own sexuality, you watch that and I feel like part of you feels like: 'Ahh, that's so normal, that's so beautiful and so romantic'.
"It's not about somebody [being] against it, having to fight. It's just two people finding each other absolutely irresistible and loving each other. It was just beautifully done."
