Viewers are divided on that Barbara Windsor biopic
The BBC took us on an emotional journey through the life of an icon tonight in a biopic that followed Dame Barbara Windsor from childhood through to becoming everyone's favourite shouty landlady in EastEnders, Peggy Mitchell.
Starring Jaime Winstone as a younger Barbara Windsor, and Samantha Spiro as her later in life, the 90-minute drama saw Spiro's older Barbara reflecting on her life.
A flurry of flashbacks saw Winstone as younger Barbara going through her rise to stardom, a few doomed relationships and a troubled connection with her father.
Viewers at home were pretty unanimously agreed that Barbara Windsor is a national treasure – but they were more divided on whether the Beeb did her justice.
The format, based on jumping around in time from older Babs reflecting on her career to younger Babs flirting her way through a number of sticky encounters, confused some people:
Im not a fan of dramas that constantly go back and forth in time 😕 #BABS

#BABS why couldn't they just tell the story, not keen on this back and forth stuff....I'm glad I've not had a drink!

I thought this would be good and it is but why this 'ghosts' device; it just jars. They should stop messin about #Babs

And the whole time travelling and talking ghosts thing got a few people thinking back to another BBC icon...
Some, however, were big fans of the non-chronological narrative:
More than a few thought that Samantha Spiro was the standout performance of the show:
The show even referenced Barbara meeting the Kray brothers:
And people were into the Carry On scenes:
But when it came down to it, it seemed like people were torn on the show overall. Some viewers really weren't keen:
While we can all relax in knowing that at least one person was happy with it:
