Viewers brilliantly troll 'Coronation Street' over 'MDF' plane set during Liz McDonald's shock exit

Liz McDonald exited Coronation Street in dramatic style last night, in the climax to the court case plot which could have seen Jenny Connor banged up in jail.

After Jenny ran over Liz on Christmas Day, while driving drunk, she and husband Johnny found themselves in legal dire straits, with Johnny lying to the authorities to cover for his wife.

The couple’s plan was set to collapse last night, but Liz, who was left in a critical condition following the incident, failed to show up in court, meaning the case was dismissed.

Viewers speculated at the possible outcomes, including, dramatically, the possible kidnap of Liz by Jenny’s friend Gemma Winter.

However, it turned out that Liz had absconded, quite literally leaving on a jet plane after having a change of heart.

“I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t let Johnny and Jenny get sent down,” she told son Steve on the phone. “I couldn’t see any other way to end it.”

But the drama of the situation was dulled somewhat thanks to viewers not being able to take their eyes of the scene’s, shall we say ‘budget’, set.

It looked like a plane from the 1970s, and soon Corrie fans were concerned for Liz’s safety.

As well as ripping Corrie mercilessly, of course.

Well done, everyone. Well done.
