The setting for Disney's upcoming Star Wars hotel has been teased in a short animated video, showing the jungle-like 'planet' where fans will soon be able to stay and take part in interactive, mission-based Star Wars storylines.

The 38-second teaser depicts a spaceship door opening to reveal views of Batuu, the fictional world created for the eagerly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park, which Disney has recently announced will open in Florida in summer 2019.

It will provide the colourful backdrop to a host of Star Wars-themed features, including the aforementioned hotel, which has been designed to resemble a starship from the much-loved franchise, as well as rides, shops (disguised as market traders) and restaurants, including a slightly more salubrious version of the Mos Eisley cantina.

Disney has also promised a deeply immersive multi-day experience for visitors to the park, who will arrive amidst a raging battle fought between members of the Resistance and the Empire's evil successor, the New Order.

"From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire," said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney's Parks and Resorts.

"Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you," he added.

After receiving galaxy-appropriate attire, new arrivals will be tasked with secret missions, one of which will include piloting the Millennium Falcon on an as-yet undisclosed assignment.

The park's resident characters will respond differently depending on how one performs in these tasks – completing the mission and landing the ship successfully will elicit a more positive response in the Mos Eisley cantina (a confirmed feature) than you'll get if you nosedive into the dirt.

Other confirmed experiences include a space battle aboard a Star Destroyer and a Jedi training school for children.

Disney has also given a sneak peak at some of the toys available to buy from the Toydarian street market (named after the business-minded species first introduced in the Phantom Menace). These include stuffed toys of Star Wars characters such as Yoda, Chewbacca and the puffin-like Porgs introduced in the latest film, The Last Jedi.
