Victoria Pendleton has opened up about her plans for life after cycling, revealing she's now focusing on starting a family.

It has been a busy year for the Olympic cyclist who won gold and silver medals at the London 2012 games this summer, but just because cycling's over, Victoria has no plans to slow down.

The 32-year-old is looking forward to being a mother once she and with her fiancé Scott Gardner tie the knot next year.

She said: “My priority now is my family and Scott. I would like a family one day and I’ve started feeling more broody recently, but I have a lot to do first.”

Victoria said right now she is most excited about preparing for her wedding and has already found her dream wedding dress.

She revealed: “I found my dress in September. I met a designer – but I can’t tell you who – and found just what I wanted. It’ll be made to measure next year as I lost 11lb doing Strictly. I can’t wait to get in the gym and get toned!”

Victoria admitted that retirement would take time to get used to winning gold at London 2012 was one of the highlights of her career.

She told Look Magazine: “Halfway through 2012, I stopped doing the one thing I’ve done my whole life – cycling. Retiring will take a lot of getting used to, but I need to move on.”

Its seems Victoria has been enjoying her post-Olympic limelight, making appearances at London and Paris Fashion Weeks and competing on Strictly Come Dancing.

Even though she bowed out of the show on week eight, Victoria wasn’t disappointed with her performance.

She said: “The outcome was never that important to me, but it was fun to do something totally new. I got partnered with the best dancer on the show [Brendan] and every week was a bonus – I never expected to be lifting that glitter ball!”

After an eventful year it’s no surprise that Victoria just wants to spend time with her family.

She added: “I’ve never had a Christmas without training, so I can’t wait to just catch up with family. I’ll be toasting this year with a glass or two of champagne!”
