Victoria Beckham reveals reason behind removing tattoo dedicated to husband David

Watch: Victoria Beckham says removing a tattoo of her husband's initials 'doesn't mean anything'

Victoria Beckham has set the record straight as to why she had a tattoo dedicated to her husband David Beckham removed in recent months.

Beckham, 48, has been the subject of tabloid fodder after she sparked divorce speculation since she started the process of removing the ‘DB’ initial tattoo from her wrist a few months ago.

However, the ex-Spice Girl revealed the real reason behind her decision to remove the tattoo of her husband’s initials during an interview with the Today show on Thursday, and it's not what you think.

“I had these tattoos a long long time ago and they just weren’t particularly delicate,” she told Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, before explaining that it was an aesthetic reason behind the removal, and not an emotional one.

“Mine were just a little bit thick and they were bleeding a little bit and they just weren’t as pretty. They just didn’t look so nice. It doesn’t mean anything more than that,” she continued.

“The media started to speculate, was I leaving my husband? No. I was just a bit sick of the tattoo. It’s as simple as that.”

The mother-of-four went on to add that David has several “beautiful” tattoos, as does her eldest son, Brooklyn, who married girlfriend Nicola Peltz in a Miami ceremony earlier this year.

Beckham recently showed her spring/summer 23 show at Paris Fashion Week for the first time, supported by her whole family including Brooklyn, 23, and Nicola, 27, despite rumours of a family rift since the wedding.

Brooklyn’s siblings Romeo, 20, Cruz, 17, and Harper, 11 joined David Beckham and Victoria’s parents on the front row, which drove the designer to tears when she took her final bow on the runway.

“I planned on coming out having a great picture at the end of the show and I just saw my husband, I saw my children, I saw my parents and I just got very emotional,” she told Today.
