Victoria Beckham has said she is trying to be the “best wife” to husband David.

The fashion designer, 44, addressed the struggle of juggling raising a family and running a business as she broke her silence in the wake of speculation she was splitting from the former footballer.

Opening up about their family life at the Forbes Women’s Summit in New York she said: “Like most women, I beat myself up. I’m trying most importantly to be the best mum that I can. But I’m also trying to be the best wife and the best professional. It is a juggling act and it’s not easy.

“I have to remind myself, when I come home, ‘Put the phone down. It’s OK to not answer e-mails until the morning. Spend quality time with your children and David.’ It’s really about getting that balance and just constantly checking in with yourself.”

She also praised David for encouraging her to “follow my dreams” and for being a “fantastic dad” to their four children, Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, six.

“I’m so lucky that I have the support of an incredible husband,” she said. “He has always encouraged me to follow my dreams and passion. If it wasn’t for him supporting me, at home as well, it would be very difficult.

“We really are equal in everything we do at home with the children. He makes it possible. He’s at home making the school run, cooking the dinner, doing the homework with the kids. He’s the most fantastic husband and dad.”

Victoria’s comments come days after the famous couple were forced to deny rumours that they are seeking to end their 19-year marriage.

Social media went into meltdown over claims the Beckhams were splitting, but a spokeswoman soon slammed the rumours as “fake”.

In a statement they said: “There is no statement due or divorce. This is just fake social media news.

“This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time.”
