Versace has launched the Gianni Versace Scholarship which offers financial backing for a student starting the MA Fashion Course at Central Saint Martins.

This year marks the 20th anniversary since the legendary designer was murdered outside his Miami mansion, and Donatella Versace thinks there could be no better tribute than by nurturing the future generation of fashion talent.

"Central St Martins educates and trains some of the best talents in the world of fashion," said Donatella Versace today. "Many of their alumni have come to work with me over the years. I have always been a great advocate of supporting and listening to young talent and it is with great pleasure that we are funding a yearly scholarship at the college as a tribute to my brother Gianni. He was a visionary designer and in his memory we wanted to nurture the creators of tomorrow."

Donatella has long championed the talents of new designers. She previously hired Christopher Kane and Jonathan Anderson when they were both in the early stages of their careers to helm Versace's sister label, Versus. Her eye for talent is impressive, Kane, Anderson and Anthony Vaccarello have gone onto be huge successes.
