Flip-flops are our saving grace when in comes to holidays: the perfect easy shoe to slip on for the walk from sea to sun-lounger.
Granted, the airy shoe could make some improvements: they’re prone to slipping off and they don’t exactly scream stylish, do they?
Well it turns out the humble flip-flop now has some stiff competition.
Portuguese crowd-funded brand iGUANEYE have created iGUANEYE Jungle – a shoe which wraps around the heels and the toe, securing the foot, yet promising “barefoot comfort”.

They are said to let your feet breath, “freed from the tightness of closed shoes”, while the brand promise they don’t slip off.
The shoes are said to be inspired by Amazonian Indians, who used to dip their feet in liquid rubber from trees to protect them.
Interestingly, the shoe comes in two parts which you assemble yourself by slotting the two together, meaning they’re super compatible. Pretty cool.
But while the idea behind them is no doubt genius, Twitter users couldn’t seem to see past the aesthetics…
Yes but would anyone, we mean anyone, ever wear them? https://t.co/MbNbMDWtRW

If I were to wear that, my tan line would be much much worse on my feet! Not even THE FEET. I WILL HAVE WHITE TOE AND TANNED ERRYTHANG! ♀️ https://t.co/hQYOccVkpX

Yep, we can’t help but thinking they’re 2018’s answer to Crocs.
